Power: Kitty has a telekinetic connection with ash. When threatened, she can use this ability to throw up a large dust cloud gathered from the surrounding area, and let the air currents help her to manipulate it's shape and flow. For the most part this is used simply to blind and confuse her opponent, though she could theoretically use the ash to suffocate them. There are rumours that she can turn her whole body to ash - stories spread due to her sudden disappearances during fights. In fact she merely uses the black dust cloud thrown up as a diversion, while channeling more to help her make a lightning fast escape. When bored (and she is often bored) she has been known to pass the time by forming ash into other shapes, sometimes creating ashy black animals that almost look real.

History: It doesn't feel like there are many natives of New Amsterdam, these days. You're lucky if you hear the same accent twice in one afternoon. Kitty Walker is one of the few who remembers when leaving the city didn't require a permit, and the trains didn't arrive full and leave empty. Sometimes she wonders if collecting all these syns in one place is really supposed to help them, or trap them.

Kitty was raised in various care homes in the more run down districts of the city. She has no memory of either of her parents, and her records were lost when she was still an infant. So far as the state was concerned, she really did start out as nothing. That's not to say she never took advantage of this inbuilt enigma. Throughout an unstable childhood, spent passed between foster parents and a procession of unfamiliar faces, Kitty would entertain herself by inventing histories. At any one time her mother may have been a princess or a murderer, her father a pirate or a sheik. Being believed didn't matter, somehow these imaginary pasts made the young girl feel less alone.

Birthdays, too, would change with every home she was sent to. As she rationalised it, not knowing her birthday was on one day only meant it could be any day. And if any, why not every? It was an early display of the optimism she has somehow never lost.

Scraping by with a basic (and often interrupted) education, Kitty was relieved when she came into her syn ability. At the very least, it seemed like she would be able to get by without too much hard work. When the New Earth organisation first established itself in New Amsterdam, Kitty was among the first to voluntarily sign up. Free food and housing may have had a little to do with her choice, but the group's mission statement suited her well, and her experiences in the care system meant she could empathise with those they took in.

Kitty was quickly given more responsibility, to the point where the main part of her job involves the quick recovery of out of control syns. Thanks to her ability, speedy take-down and escape come naturally to her, and she believes that so called 'delinquent' syns can be far better helped by her organisation than in police custody. New Amsterdam has changed a lot in the time she's lived there, but if syns are being pushed into a trap, Kitty hopes to give them the ability and control to one day break free.

....So long as nobody makes her do the paperwork.
